Why is Breakfast the Most Important Meal of the Day?

Everyone has heard their mother yelling at them about how breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is not just your mom trying to get you to eat, there is actual truth behind it. There are many different health benefits to eating breakfast, but that doesn’t mean eating cookies and ice cream as your breakfast. That is still not a good way to start your day. You should start your day off with healthy foods that will give you energy and not just a sugar rush. So what are the reasons that a healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day?

It gets you ready for the day.

Having a healthy breakfast can give you energy and make you more focused. Think about it, all night your body is technically starving, it is not getting any sustenance, and depending on importance-of-breakfastwhen you ate dinner it may not have gotten sustenance for many hours. Your body will try to conserve energy and not eating could make you tired all day long. However, waking up and giving your body what it needs will make you less irritable, less restless and less tired.

It can boost your mental abilities.

Because eating breakfast allows you to be less irritable and more focused, it gives you the ability to make better use of your brain. Studies show that, on average, children who eat a healthy breakfast study better, learn quicker, and are less antsy than those who don’t. It also has shown to increase productivity in adults and children, alike. So if you have a big project at work, there is no better way to get yourself motivated than to eat a good breakfast before you leave home in the morning.

It can help you keep your weight in check.

If you don’t eat breakfast, you are continuing to starve your body until whenever you have lunch. This conditions your body into thinking it is in a situation where it will not get sustenance for a long time. Your body will go into survivor mode and essentially store all the food you eat so that it has a safety net if you don’t eat for a long time again. This lowers your metabolism and can cause you to put on more weight. However, if you do eat a healthy breakfast it starts your day off on the right foot, your metabolism will be in check and ready for the day. Breakfast is incredibly important to start your day off right, especially if you have a busy day and don’t know when you can eat again.

There is no reason to not start off your day with a healthy breakfast. Grab a piece of fruit or toast and peanut butter, anything with substance that will tide you over until lunch.
