When you’re on vacation, it’s hard to maintain your vegan lifestyle. Not all restaurants have vegan alternatives and it can feel awkward to ask. If you’re vacationing to Hilton Head soon, we’ve compiled a list of the best vegan-friendly restaurants in the area.

PURE Natural Market

The restaurant was voted “Best Lunch Restaurant” by Hilton Head’s local newspaper The Island Packet. PURE offers a full vegan menu, cold pressed juices, dairy free smoothies, and authentic Jamaican dishes. The juices are great to take on the beach during vacation. Some customer favorites include the jackfruit BBQ sandwich and the vegan mac-n-cheese.

Java Burrito Company

You guessed it, Java Burrito is famous for their coffee and Mexican food. All the food and coffee beans are locally sourced with no artificial preservatives. They offer a full-service specialty coffee bar that has an extensive line of organic milk products and dairy-free alternatives. Make your own burrito at their burrito bar which has both meat and veggie substitutes. Java Burrito is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Studio

The Studio is a local restaurant inside an art gallery that also frequently hosts live music. You can watch artists create their pieces as you sit in their intimate dining room. The Studio’s menu clearly labels their vegan options such as their homemade plantain gnocchi or exotic mushroom crepes. They also have a fabulous wine list.

Mellow Mushroom

The Mellow Mushroom isn’t your typical pizza place. They also have craft beer and wine to sip while you dine in their eclectic space or on the patio. The restaurant has a vegan menu and special menus for different food allergies. Their vegan pizzas include Daiya vegan cheese and vegan dough. Their Thai Dye pizza is a customer favorite, as well as the avocado hoagie.

The Delisheeyo owner is a former Whole Foods employee and wants to bring food to Hilton Head that people can trust is good for them. The light lunch spot serves fruit and veggie smoothies, salads, bowls, wraps, and frozen yogurt. You can make your own salad and pay by weight and make your own smoothie too. If you’re bringing a dog on vacation, they’re allowed to join you on the patio.
